This section provides information about the format and structure
of the online version of the Victoria University of Wellington Annual
Report 2004. It does not form part of the Annual Report, nor the
University's reporting on its financial or statistical status over
the period.
Resolution optimisation
Unlike the majority of the rest of the VUW website, The Victoria
University of Wellington Annual Report 2004 (the Annual Report)
has been optimised for a display of 800 x 600 pixels per inch. Most
readers will be able to view it at this resolution, which has been
chosen because of practical considerations regarding the display
of tabular information.
Display of tabular information
For display within the HTML pages of the Annual Report, tabular
information has been incorporated in image format. This decision
has been made to remove the necessity for extensive reproofing and
to ensure a consistent display of complex information across different
browser platforms. Readers requiring text versions of the tabular
data for analysis may download it from the site in PDF or Microsoft
Word or Excel format here.
Macronisation
In keeping with the New Zealand Government Web Guidelines (section 6.3.8) for the management and design of New Zealand public websites (http://www.e-government.govt.nz/docs/web-guidelines-2-1/chapter6.html#Toc505590971) Māori language terms used in the 2004 Annual Report have been macronised. However, because it cannot be guaranteed that Māori words will appear correctly in some older browser platforms, a PDF version of the report in macronised format, with the macronised font embedded, can be downloaded at: www.vuw.ac.nz/annualreports/2004/statements/downloads.html
Special considerations for sight-impaired
readers
In order to make the Annual Report as accessible to sight-impaired
readers as possible, navigation links are, where possible, in text
format. Where navigation has been used in image format, ALT tags
have been used. However in order to ensure a level of display consistency,
stylesheets restrict the resizing of text on pages. Those readers
who require the ability to resize text may download it from the
site in PDF or Microsoft Word or Excel format here.
Audit Opinion
The Report of the Auditor General expressed in relation to the
Victoria University of Wellington's financial statements for the
year ended 31 December 2004 is based on the Report tabled in the
House of Representatives in March 2005, and which is available
on this site as a PDF
file.
