The NZAC stocks at a discount, the popular and authoritative BP guides to New Zealands walking tracks. Titles include the Hollyford track, The Heaphy Track, The Copland Track, The Routeburn Track and The Abel Tasman Track. To collect information and take photographs for his series of inexpensive guides to New Zealands great walking tracks, The Author walked all 600 kilometres of them, usually twice. He is no stranger to the high country; he has climbed extensively in the Southern Alps and has taken part in expeditions to remote parts of New Guinea and the sub-Antarctic. Philip Temple's non-fiction books and novels have been appearing at regular intervals since 1962. His photographic books on New Zealand have established him as one of the country's best-known landscape photographers. Since his walking track guide series first appeared in 1976 nearly 150,000 copies have been printed.
