Non-virtual web surfing: Alastair Smith's North American trip

This trip, in September/October 1994, combined visiting some old friends in North America with study leave which had the objectives:

• to find out how libraries and information centres were using the Internet, in particular World Wide Web, by attending conferences and visiting on the ground some of the sites I'd visited virtually on the Internet.
• make and renew contacts with North American LIS schools.
