Introduction and objectives
'Doing business in Asia', covering both the business environment and the way business is conducted, especially by foreigners, is of particular importance to any NZ business school. However, there is a dearth of good video material from a New Zealand perspective to inform research and teaching. The emerging methodology of video-assisted research offers substantial advantages when investigating this field. The use of relevant and focussed multimedia resources in teaching adds depth to the learning of students, while exciting their interest; it can add a 'real life' perspective to their understanding.
This project originated with a series on South Korea, shot in November-December 2003, when Tim Beal and Michel Rod were visiting professors at Korea University Business School in Seoul. Compilation of material, involving video interviews, illustrative video footage and still images, is a continuing process.

Following a generous grant from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney we are in the process of conducting interviews in Auckland and HK. In New Zealand we are receiving invaluable assistance from Mrs Lynda Park, Treasurer of the Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association.
